Liberal Democrat Leader of the Opposition Councillor Colin Strong has condemned Tony Blair's recent comments on nuclear power.

Cllr Strong said: "It is clear the Prime Minister has decided to support new nuclear power stations before his own energy review has even reported."

He added: "The economic case for nuclear is extremely weak. Future generations will be picking up the bill long in to the future. What is needed is real investment into renewable energy sources."
