Local Development Framework - Your chance to comment - Again9.00.00pm GMT Thu 6th Mar 2008
Because of some problems with the originally submitted documents, Spelthorne Council has been forced to readvertise the Local Development Framework. You have until the 17th April to give your input on this important document that will shape Spelthorne for the next 20 years. The original documents were subject to pre-examination consideration by an Inspector who indicated that they were not satisfactory. Following the original consultation a number of people and organisations made representations. The most threatening of these were from developers who are challenging the Green Belt policy in the hope that they can build even more houses in Spelthorne. Because of the problems with the LDF, the Council has had to make some changes to address issues raised by the Inspector. Failure to make these changes would almost certainly have resulted in the LDF being rejected out of hand. However, the changes made were only small, and this had to be the case or the whole process would have had to be restarted. Local Liberal Democrats believe the LDF is a missed opportunity for Spelthorne. Some of the policies should be much more clearly defined and better protect the character of Spelthorne. We would strongly encourage people to look at the LDF and comment on any areas that give you any cause for concern. You can access the Spelthorne LDF website from the link below:
