London Irish planning applications submitted for move to Hazelwood and 194 houses on the Avenue3.15.00pm GMT Tue 22nd Dec 2009
Two planning applications have been submitted by London Irish Rugby Club which, if approved, will have a major impact on Lower Sunbury. One application is to relocate their pitches and clubhouse to what is now Hazelwood golf course and the other is to build 194 houses on the existing site in the Avenue. The scale of the impact of the development can be judged by the fact that Spelthorne Council have sent out between 600 and 700 letters to potentially affected residents for each site.
The closing date for comments and objections is the 26th January. These can be made online (via the planning application link below), via email to planningcontrol@spelthorne.gov.uk or by post to the address at the bottom of this page. The Council should acknowledge all letters but will not reply to any specific points raised. The Reference for the Hazelwood site is 09/00842/OUT and for the Avenue 09/00841/OUT. The plans can be viewed online by following the links below. The Hazelwood site comprises 17 pitches (not all full size) of which 3 are proposed to be floodlit. One of the pitches is planned to be a 3G artificial pitch. The plan shows a new clubhouse and parking capacity for about 250 cars. On the Avenue site the proposal is for 194 dwellings, including a private nursing/care home. There is also provision for a doctor's surgery. If you have any concerns or comments on these applications it is vital that you let the Council know. The level of public concern is judged by the number of people who write in to the Council. Write letters to Planning Development Control, Spelthorne Borough Council, Knowle Green, Staines, TW18 1XB Related Links:Application 09/00841/OUT - 194 dwellings on the Avenue Application 09/00842/OUT - Hazelwood application for pitches and clubhouse
