Cameron will say anything to get elected says Lib Dem MP, Danny Alexander

5 Jan 2010

"The Tories' much-hyped policy blitz has ended up reducing their own policies to rubble," said Nick Clegg's Chief of Staff.

Commenting on today's continuing confusion over the Tories' marriage tax proposals, Danny Alexander MP said:

"The Tories' much-hyped policy blitz has ended up reducing their own policies to rubble.

"David Cameron needs to clear up once and for all whether his party intends to introduce a policy that will give tax breaks to couples where one person can afford to stay at home, but do nothing for married couples who are both working.

"As with his cast-iron pledge on the Lisbon Treaty, David Cameron's attempts to appease the right-wing of his party are coming back to haunt him.

"He has already demonstrated that he will say anything to get elected, how can he be trusted not to do the same thing again?"
