Spelthorne Tory Councillor Nick Gething guilty of dishonesty

A statement by Spelthorne Liberal Democrats

"The Liberal Democrat Group are dismayed at the revelations, that an elected member of Spelthorne Council has been found guilty of acting dishonestly, whilst carrying out professional legal duties. We note that as a result of this, severe action has been taken against him by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

GIven that Cllr Gething is an elected representative of Spelthorne Council, we feel he has contravened at least two aspects of the Standards in Public Life which all elected members should aspire to abide by. Such violation should not pass without comment and subsequent action being taken.

We await to see what action the Conservative Group Leader proposes to take in this matter, as it is up to him to take action on this. Failure to do so, would in our view, show weakness and that the Conservatives do not apply the standards that our residents, rightly, would expect of an elected Councillor. It is our belief that his position as a Councillor has now been compromised. He thus should now seriously consider his position."
