Richard and Paul

Spelthorne Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce that local campaigners Richard Herman and Paul Vanni have been selected as our candidates for Lower Sunbury and Halliford in the upcoming Unitary Authority elections which will be held in May 2026.

Richard and Paul have lived in Lower Sunbury for many years and are looking forward to serving their neighbours on the new authority if elected in May.

Richard has lived in Lower Sunbury for almost forty years and has a deep understanding of the issues facing the ward. A few years ago, Richard retired as the managing director of his own business which employed 27 staff. Richard's company exported to America and the European Union, so he knows from personal experience the impact of trade barriers, including tariffs, on British businesses. Richard has also led a campaign against cold-calling, and has been heavily involved in the Spelthorne Design Code consultations.

Paul has lived in Lower Sunbury for 16 years. Having worked in education for 30 years, including as Headmaster of a school in central London, Paul now works establishing British curriculum schools overseas. As a family man, Paul understands the value and importance of schools and youth organisations to parents and their children in Lower Sunbury and Halliford. He has for many years benefitted from what the local community has to offer and now he is committed to giving back to that same community by ensuring that the new unitary authority works for the people of Lower Sunbury and Halliford and that our distinct community and identity are not lost to the new authority.

Richard and Paul are both committed to Lower Sunbury and Halliford and want the best for their neighbours and their local area. They were recently seen talking to residents at the Sunbury Christmas market where many of you will have met them. If you want committed local champions to represent you in Lower Sunbury and Halliford, vote for Richard and Paul on the 7th of May 2026
