Spelthorne Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce that Cara Mackley and Harleen Boparai have been selected as our candidates for Staines South and Ashford West in the upcoming Unitary Authority elections which will be held in May 2026
Cara has lived in Ashford since 1998 and has strong roots in the local community. She is an experienced psychotherapist and personal tutor, and holds an Honorary Teaching Fellowship with Birkbeck, bringing a deep understanding of listening, advocacy, and responsible decision-making. Cara is the local Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator and works closely with residents to improve community safety and support neighbours. Her children have attended local schools, giving her a strong, practical understanding of the issues facing local families.
As a young adult from Staines, a recent graduate and now working for the NHS, Harleen recognises the unique challenges faced by residents of all generations. She is standing to be a dedicated advocate for Staines South and Ashford West, to prove that our voices matter, our future is exciting and that we all feel empowered, excited and genuinely connected to our community's future. Harleen will fight for opportunities and support to turn our shared concerns into tangible action for our local area.
