Despite talking a good recycling game, Spelthorne still doesn't have Tetrapak recycling facilities and every Borough which borders onto Spelthorne has something.

Tory Council Leader does a U-Turn and now supports Heathrow Expansion
Spelthorne's Tory Leader, Cllr John Packman, has done a complete U-Turn on his position on Heathrow. In 2004 he was strongly AGAINST Heathrow expansion and now he is in favour (subject to a few weak environmental conditions). LibDem Councillor Ian Beardsmore exposed this at the Council meeting on 22nd February and described it as "a shocking about-face".

Spelthorne Council says "No to ID cards
At the December meeting of Spelthorne Council LibDems introduced a motion opposing the introduction of ID cards securing overwhelming support for the proposition. The motion was proposed by the Leader of the LibDem opposition, Councillor Colin Strong and seconded by Councillor Lawrence Nichols.

170 flats planned for Ashford Hospital West Wing
Developers plan to build 170 flats on the site of the Ashford Hospital West Wing. A planning application was submitted to Spelthorne Council at the end of November and shows a 6-storey building with an underground car park.
